Cultivating connection through eclectic music & imaginative education.
Lisa Stein (she/her) is a vocalist, cellist, and music educator based in Pittsburgh, PA. Her current work builds upon 6 years of experience at Eden Village Camp — an environmental sleepaway camp — interviewing, hiring, and training staff; developing educational programs; managing social media/communications; coordinating special events; and recruiting new families and staff.
Lisa earned her B.A. in Music and Religious Studies from Wesleyan University in 2021 with a focus on contemporary opera, experimental music, and classical South Indian music. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Education at Carnegie Mellon University, where she won the 2025 chamber music competition and researches collective composition and culturally responsive pedagogy. A lyric mezzo-soprano, she studies voice with Jennifer Aylmer.
As an educator, Lisa teaches Eurhythmics classes at Carnegie Mellon’s Preparatory School and has taught elementary string, choral, general music, and middle school bucket drumming classes in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with the Pittsburgh Girls Choir, Play On Philly, and Musical Mentors Collaborative. She also facilitates teacher training workshops on exploratory approaches to early instrumental education, informed by Dalcroze Eurhythmics and collective composition techniques.
She performs regularly in the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir with the Philadelphia Orchestra, including multiple performances at Carnegie Hall and the Grammy Award-winning Netflix film Maestro with Bradley Cooper. Lisa also performs locally with the Shadyside Chancel Choir and her Irish band Puffins in the Kitchen on cello, percussion, and vocals.
When she’s not singing, Lisa enjoys painting, embroidering, plant-based cooking, teaching herself harp, and hugging trees.
